Eucalyptus globulus, commonly known as southern blue gum or blue gum, is a species of tall, evergreen tree with fragrant leaves. It produce large shade canopy and is a great landscape tree. Plant in full to partial sun. Drought tolerant and low water use tree.

Instructions to plan:

Plant eucalyptus in mid to late spring or fall, depending on your location and climate. Be sure to water the tree both before and after planting. Dig the hole slightly larger than the root ball, and take care with the tree's roots during planting, as they do not like being disturbed.

For the first 2-3 years you may grow this seedling in a big 5 to 15 gallons pot and enjoy it as patio plant. Later you can transplant it to a permanent garden location.

Prune eucalyptus plant as needed. Eucalyptus plants are fast growers. The best way to keep that growth in check, and keep the plant healthy, is to regularly prune and shape it.

Eucalyptus globulus trees are long-lived and a popular choice for landscapes throughout the Southwest, particularly in California, where they have been a part of the landscape since the Gold Rush! They have good seaside tolerance, so they are an excellent choice for coastal neighborhoods. Plant more trees and let them help clean the air! Blue Gum eucalyptus trees can tolerate smog and since they grow so fast, are an excellent way to help clean the air, with a pleasing aroma to boot!
